HIGH-RESOLUTION DIGITAL CAPTURES OF ORIGINAL PAINTINGS & PRINTS WITH MATCHING FILES

Your work is photographed with my special digital capture system using custom lighting that brings out the brushstrokes and other fine details of your work. This image file is compared to your original work in a room that has lights designed for color matching. The image file is adjusted so that it closely matches the original artwork but print proofs are not generated. The files are cropped and sized as needed and saved to CD. Although these files will be of excellent quality, you may find that fine adjustments may be necessary if these are printed at home because of differences in monitors and printers. Files for show applications, websites, and printing are created from these files and burned to CD. See the third section below for contact print and test print prices.

SCANNING AND PROOFING OF CUSTOMER TRANSPARENCIES OR SLIDES

4x5 transparencies or slides of your artwork can be scanned and proofed to prepare for giclée printing. Scans are done on a special drum scanner that produces very large files. Print proofs are matched to the supplied transparency or slides when viewed on a 5500 K light table. Dust and common film defects are retouched. If a color card was included on the film image, corrections are made based on the card. The customer is asked to be available for final image adjustment. A print proof that matches the monitor image is generated for customer evaluation and approval. If the proof is satisfactory it is signed and dated or additional proofs are made. This proof stays at the studio. A small version goes home with the customer. Giclée prints made in the future are based on the final signed proof and stay at the studio. The quality of prints made from customer supplied film originals depends a great deal on the quality of the original film. Files for show applications, websites, and printing are created from these files and burned to CD

TESTING DIGITAL FILES FOR PRINTING - FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS AND DIGITAL ARTISTS

If you're interested in getting your photographs or digital art printed but are nervous that you won't like the results, this service is for you. Come to my studio and we'll take a look at your files together on my excellent computer and large monitors, make corrections in Photoshop, generate contact sheets or test print till you are delighted, then prepare your files for giclée prints that match those tests.

Possible image adjustments include, but are not limited to: color correction, level and curve adjustments, saturation, two kinds of sharpening, cropping, resizing, combining multiple images onto one, text inclusion, retouching of blemishes, removal of parts of an image and so on.

If you have many images I would recommend a contact sheet first. A contact sheet has small versions of your images printed on one page. The images and contact sheet can be any size and can be printed with file names. If you like certain images, I can print larger tests or print sections.

Final giclée prints can be ordered of the images you like best.

Call to make an appointment. Save the largest version of your files possible on a flash card, CD or camera card. Tiffs are best, but any other file format will work.

Hourly time fee: $80 or $20/15min.

Contact sheets and test prints are 8 cents a square inch. For instance, a 16x20 contact sheet with many small images is 320 square inches and would cost $25.60. Add 2 cents a square inch for spray coating. Final prints are my normal prices.
